Featuring a gorgeous illustrative style, this piece really makes you smile! The careful attention to line art and rough colouring creates a great sense of character in each animal." ( Suggested by Pixel-Spotlight and Featured by Katmomma )

What bird's in the picture? Judging by the apparent lack of a beak, I'm guessing Archaeopteryx or one of the other such primitive birds.

Brilliant picture, BTW :-)

I remember this from when it was first posted in SA. And I kept on remembering it until it was time to decorate my new apartment. Then I ordered a print.

Thanks! :)

And the bird on the left is a moa - they were nine-foot-tall wingless birds (not even vestigial wings - hence the gentleman moa holding his tea cup with his foot) native to New Zealand. They were quickly wiped out by hunting after the Maori people arrived in New Zealand.

A DD well deserved indeed. I can't get over the lovely mix of human mannerisms translated to bird anatomy like their claws holding teacups. Thanks to this piece I'll have to research that long necked bird to find out what it is. Artistic AND educational? Gadzooks!

Thanks! This was a ton of fun to make and it was super exciting to get the DD.

The long-necked one is a moa, a nine-foot-tall wingless bird native to New Zealand that went extinct after the arrival of the Maori. Yeah, totally wingless, not even vestigial wings, hence him drinking tea with his feet. :D

Nah, other people have made other versions of birds. Such as Lord Von Haast's Eagle. There's a thread around it on Something Awful, in the General Bullshit section, definitely worth a read.

What makes this is the fact that the wingless bird has to hold his teacup with his GIANT FOOT.
